deeptokyo's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- sewig canvas sucks It's been 3 days and my wrist still hurts from my meager attempt at sewing canvas. Yup, that's right, yours truly had to se what itwas like to sew sails back in the day in my Maritime history class. It was pretty crazy and a sailor's needle is fucking huge and I couldn't even get it through2 pices ofcanvas without the help from a palm or whatever it's called. Basically it's this huge leather strap that your hand fits through, like a glove, except then it has this metal part to it, like a thimble so that you can push a needle through. Well, since I'm the only girl in the class all the older gentlemen were trying to help me out. It wasn't too bad since they seem to all have been in the navy or marines or just have a boat. I'd say Jay was most helpful, he's in his 40s I think and talked to me like a human being, not a child so that was a big plus. One guy in my class is like 70 and he talks to me like I'm his grandaughter or something. It's kinda freaky but nice at the same time. Quote of the week: "I think it's concentrated pee and maybe some semen" Peter in describing what it means when male cats "spray" Which is super helpful because I now have a cat. Well, Sarah and I took in a stray cat, his name is Selden and he's the most chill cat in exstence.
