deeptokyo's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- lots of news Why is it that I never just catch a cold, I have to get some horrible sickness? Sunday I awoke and had an awful feeling in my stomach which led to vomiting all day and not holding any liquids done until 5pm when I finally got a hold of my mom who called some nurse from our insurance company who pre-authorized me to go to the emergency room. Yeah, it pretty much sucked, I was so dehydrated that I could barely stand on my own without getting dizzy and having bouts of nausea. So, I was hooked up to an IV for like 6 hours and went through 4our bags of the stuff until they let me go home at 130. Poor Sarah just stayed there the entire time with NOTHING to do since we weren't expecting a visit to the ER. That's love I tell ya! So yeah, the antibiotic I was on for my ear infection caused this whole giant mess. I'm never taking that stuff again. And at least I got a note from the ER saying it was all cool to miss class for a couple days. Anyways, I'm feeling better! Rock. In Washington today, If the Homeland Security Act is not amended before passage, here is what will happen to you: Every purchase you make with a credit card, every magazine subscription you buy and medical prescription you fill, every Web site you visit and e-mail you send or receive, every academic grade you receive, every bank deposit you make, every trip you book and every event you attend - all these transactions and communications will go into what the Defense Department describes as "a virtual, centralized grand database." To this computerized dossier on your private life from commercial sources, add every piece of information that government has about you - passport application, driver's license and bridge toll records, judicial and divorce records, complaints from nosy neighbors to the F.B.I., your lifetime paper trail plus the latest hidden camera surveillance - and you have the supersnoop's dream: a "Total Information Awareness" about every U.S. citizen. Send letters to your reps saying you don't want this. Oh, and if any of your representatives vote for this, let them know that it cost them your vote. I for one, will not be voting Democrat again for a long time, not until they start saying "no" to unnecessary war , the violation of habeas corpus, the detention of foreigners, and all the other policies that were once popular in Germany. It may sound overly dramatic, but Hitler's original campaign concerned security, immigration, crime, and a tougher stand on communists and other "threats to the fatherland." Let's stop this before it goes any further. 5:08 p.m. - 2002-11-19 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
