deeptokyo's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- nyc trip A review of my trip to New York City for New Year's. 1ne: over-priced vegan food, which could be expected. 2wo: Subway had a crazy funk but they have some new express trains which were fantastic. And, got offered pot while in the 96th street station. 3hree: torrentual downpours on Thursday caused a number of people to simply give up on their umbrellas. We counted up to 27 while walking home that night, spread over the street or in the garbage cans. 4our: went to a fancy jazz club for New Year's eve and laughed at all the cold people in Times Square who probably had to go to the bathroom after standing in those lines for hours without moving. The club had a $10 music fee and beers were $7 bucks yet no worries, Sarah's mom paid for everything. 5ive: went and saw 2wo movies for sarah's mom's b-day (again she paid for everything including yummy chinese food on 66th street) it was totally Julianne Moore night, we saw Far From Heaven and The Hours. The Hours is one of the most brilliant films I've seen in a long long time. Go see it when it comes out for real, I think it's just exclusive engagements now. 6ix: Went to see funny new musical,Urinetown, on Broadway with Sarah. The title speaks for itself. 7even: Went to a party in Queens. Lucky I only stayed about an hour cuz Sarah and I were the youngest people there. Most of the party goers were young professionals, either doing music or theatre. Sarah drank almost a bottle of wine in an hour so it was an interesting time trying to get back uptown. 8ight: looked for the apt building from Ghostbusters when Sigourney Weaver (aka Dana Barrett) turned into the gate keeper.
